Reuse and Refurbishers
Reuse operators, such as computer and television repair shops and second hand retailers provide functioning WEEE to other users without repairing or modifying the hardware.
Refurbishment operators test, troubleshoot, disassemble and modify WEEE for the purpose of selling or donating the unit. They may replace, repair or redistribute parts and send resulting waste for reprocessing to an approved OES primary processor.
Reuse/Refurbishment sites register and undergo a pre-audit. If the pre-audit is successful, a site will be recommended for a full third-party audit in preparation as a step toward becoming an OES-approved site. OES reimburses the costs of successful audits.
Each Reuse/Refurbishment site must also be an approved collection site under the OES Program and it must be eligible to receive end of life WEEE (i.e., designated WEEE materials that cannot be reused or refurbished).
Reuse/Refurbishment sites must first meet the requirements of a collection site. Please work through the appropriate checklist above to ensure that your site meets essential conditions.
Please review the documents at right before you register to ensure that your site is ready to meet the applicable conditions.
