OES Board dismayed and in disagreement with recent communication from RPRA’s Registrar

We are dismayed and in disagreement with the recent communication from RPRA’s outgoing Registrar, Mr. Moran, to the municipalities in Ontario. Mr. Moran never had the courtesy to communicate with OES, consult on or advise on his letter before publishing. OES and all staff supporting OES have made every effort to manage the program responsibly and effectively and in fact have done so successfully. Extensive steps have been taken by OES and EPRA to segregate the entity operations to comply with the wind up plan and every step has been approved by RPRA. EPRA has proven to be a responsible, reliable and ethical service provider. There is no evidence to our knowledge that any intentional activity was undertaken by either OES or EPRA to provide anything but assistance and support for our municipalities, generators and collection sites across the province.

If you have any questions or comments, we can be reached at info@oes.ca. Click here to read the letter from the OES board

RPRA approves Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) Wind Up Plan

The Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) has approved the OES Program wind up plan. Click here to view the approval letter. In 2018, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change directed OES to wind up its Program and submit a wind up plan for the program and its organization to RPRA. The wind up plan details how the OES Program will be wound up by December 31, 2020 and the dissolution of the OES organization shortly after. Until operations wind up, OES is pleased to provide safe, secure recycling for all. Any questions on wind up can be directed to: oeswindup@ontarioes.ca or call: 1-888-646-1820, ext. 11.
