OES ensures that when you decide to recycle your electronics, they’re handled safely and efficiently. The earth is reaching out for your help. Will you answer the call? TRANSPORT Material in remote locations is transported to consolidation centres. This creates efficiencies in material movement and reduces overall carbon footprint. RecycleYourElectronics.ca POSTAL CODE LOOK-UP The interactive postal code look-up locates collection depots and events across the province of Ontario for safe convenient drop off. DROP-OFF End-of-life electronics are dropped off at authorized collection sites – including drop-off centres, return to retail locations and at special collection events. 1 C O N SO LIDATION AND RE P A C K 5 5 P O STAL CODE LOOK U P 2 D R I V E TO DROP OFF LOCA T I O N 3 T RA N S P O R T TO CONSOLIDATION A N D R E P A C K 4 The future is in your hands. Don’t let it go to waste. SUBSTANCES OF CONCERN Substances of concern like mercury and lead are also handled responsibly to protect both the environment and the health and safety of the workers handling them. RECOVERED MATERIALS Recovered materials are put back into the manufacturing supply chain and used to make new products. By bringing your old, unusable electronics to OES authorized locations, you’re helping to keep old electronics out of landfills, preventing them from being illegally exported, and you’re helping to recover and recycle valuable resources that can be put back in to the manufacturing supply chain. DOWNSTREAM Materials move downstream through additional points of approved processing to recover valuable resources. METALS: Ferrous, Aluminum, and Copper. Metals are manually and/or mechanically separated and smelted for reclaim. GLASS: Non-lead glass is manually separated for recovery or mixed with leaded glass stream for smelting. OTHER PRECIOUS METALS: Chips and circuit boards containing precious metals are manually and/or mechanically separated and smelted for reclaim of the precious metals. LEADED GLASS, CATHODE RAY TUBES (CRT), LEADED PLASMA DISPLAY: Glass is manually or mechanically separated and either sent into leaded glass production or smelted to reclaim lead from the glass. CABLES & WIRES: Manually and/or mechanically separated and smelted for metal recovery.
